About PREPARED
Launched in 2024, the PREPARED program is an initiative funded by the EPA, uniquely designed to empower community-based organizations within the Gullah Geechee corridor. The PREPARED program is dedicated to building the capacity of local organizations and governments, aiming to significantly increase the flow of federal funding into the corridor. By equipping these entities with the necessary tools and knowledge, the program facilitates their ability to apply for, manage, and evaluate EPA grants and other federal funding effectively. Our holistic approach includes a robust offering of workshops and training sessions that cover proposal writing, budget management, data analysis, and project evaluation.
The Gullah Geechee Corridor
The Gullah Geechee Cultural Heritage Corridor is a 12,000 square mile federal National Heritage Area designated by the U.S. Congress that spans from North Carolina to Florida. This region, enriched by the history and resilience of the Gullah Geechee people, faces unique environmental and health challenges, including rising sea levels, air pollution, and risks to cultural preservation.

Project Goals
Through expert-led workshops, as well as collaborations with technical assistance providers and state government agencies, we will address the knowledge gap and resource deficiency that exists as it relates to capturing and carrying out EPA-funded contracts.

Promote and foster readiness by cultivating a data-sensitive community that comprehends collecting, evaluating, and effectively utilizing data for informed management.
Equip Community-Based Organizations (CBOs) and local governments in the Gullah Geechee corridor with the necessary tools and skills to initiate new funding opportunities and evaluate their performance.
